Feel Good Movies Move Me

I don’t enjoy watching violent or scary movies anymore. They keep me up at night. They tense my nerves. They make me angry. They make me sad. None of this is entertaining or enlightening to me. None of this makes me feel good. Life is stressful enough. A movie shouldn’t make it more stressful. Yes, I know…it’s just a movie. It’s not real. But our lives, moods and actions are influenced by what we see and hear all day. If something ignites negative emotions, I’d rather skip it. I’d rather stay in my happy zone!

I prefer a good story with interesting characters and dialog. And maybe even a few important life lessons thrown in. It could be a drama or comedy, although I do love to laugh more than cry.
There are plenty of movies being produced both here and abroad with these qualities.

There’s also an interesting company called Spiritual Cinema that produces movies with spiritual themes. Not to be confused with religious themes, these are movies that are inspirational. They’re thought-provoking and compassionate stories and documentaries. Producer Steven Simon and others started the company a few years ago as a subscription based model. For a small monthly fee, you receive a DVD with that month’s selections. For more information, visit www.spiritualcinemacircle.com.

This is just the type of thing I've been looking for! I too have stopped watching things that don't make feel good. But I had no idea there was something out there to support my new movie habit. Thank you Debbie!
